The burger chain’s 43rd location is now open in Midtown Atlanta.

Plus, the scoop on BurgerFi’s secret menu.

By Hope S. Philbrick

Perhaps you’re the sort of person who likes fast-food burgers, but you feel guilty about it. You love the taste, the price, the speed at which the food is delivered into your mouth after you order it. You love its just-the-right-amount-of-grease mouthfeel and the combination of toppings. So you order via the drive-through and munch your meal in the privacy of your car, hoping not to get caught by your foodie friends. Because you know the beef is bad for you and the planet—and the corn-fed cows aren’t too happy about the mass-production system they’re forced through, either.

BurgerFi's Secret MenuHamburgers need not be a guilty pleasure.

BurgerFi prides itself on a “farm to tray” approach, using humanely raised beef that is free of antibiotics and hormones. Plus, that beef is locally-sourced. Press materials claim, “We focus on all-natural, free-range beef. We do this because it tastes better and it’s better for you.”

The best news is that “good for you and the planet” doesn’t have to mean bland and dry. You can have your fried burger, fast, and enjoy it, too.

At BurgerFi, you can get a single or double stack and choose among a range of toppings including ketchup and/or the proprietary BurgerFi sauce—avoid it if you aren’t a fan of mayonnaise—and other sauces plus free add-ons like relish, onions, lettuce, pickles, tomatoes, jalapeno peppers, and more. For $1 each you can also add a fried egg, cheese, organic ketchup, grilled mushrooms, an onion ring, bacon and more. All burgers are branded, which perhaps adds a smokey flavor but mostly adds a distinctive visual.

Sides include onion rings and French fries. The menu also includes specialty items like Wagyu Kobe beef hot dogs, custard, craft beers and wines. There’s also a “secret” menu for folks in-the-know.

For under $10, you can have a burger meal that you can be proud about eating.
