Convenient hotel located across the street from Mall of America…
The No. 1 tourist destination in the United States!
By Hope S. Philbrick
Country Inn & Suites by Radisson, Bloomington at Mall of America is located in Bloomington, Minnesota, just across the street from Mall of America (MOA); there’s a walkway plus complimentary shuttle service between the hotel and MOA.
More than 50 hotels are located within 10 minutes of Mall of America, and all of them offer free shuttle service to/from MOA and the MSP Airport. But Country Inn & Suites by Radisson, Bloomington at Mall of America is super convenient since you can walk across the street and reach MOA within about five minutes, rather than stand around and wait for a shuttle. (Radisson Blu and JW Marriott are attached directly to MOA, so they’re closest, but also pricier.)
Country Inn & Suites is among the more affordable options for overnight accommodations if your destination is MOA—though it’s also just three miles from the airport and convenient to just about anything and everything there is to do in the greater Twin Cities metro area. Consider this hotel as a home base for whatever brings you to the Twin Cities, even if you have no intention of stepping inside MOA—which would be a shame since you’d be missing out on the largest indoor entertainment and shopping mall in the United States.
I arrived at the hotel after a full day exploring MOA, after a full week of meetings in Minnesota. My plan was to check in, sleep, wake early and start driving South (I ended up driving all the way to St. Louis). Country Inn & Suites by Radisson, Bloomington at Mall of America proved to be perfect for that, but I actually wish I’d had more time to enjoy the hotel—it was nicer than I’d anticipated. The lobby was spacious with a contemporary design. There was a fire pit outside that looked relaxing, and an adults-only pool. 21 Plus Salute! It was a Friday night, and based on the festive sounds coming from the bar, the crowd at TGIFriday’s was past round two. It sounded like a friendly group having a great time.
Check-in was a breeze. The kind receptionist pointed me toward the free coffee, cookies and candy available 24/7. A nice treat!
My standard king guestroom was clean and cozy, outfitted with everything an overnight guest could need. I sank into the pillowtop mattress and down feather pillows and knew I was in for a good night sleep—the true test of any hotel.
In the morning, I filled up at the complimentary breakfast buffet. Since an IHOP restaurant is attached to the hotel, it’s actually surprising that a free breakfast is offered, but it is. Options include waffles, pastries, scrambled eggs and fresh fruit, along with coffee and tea.
Check-out was fast and simple. I’d parked my car for free just a short stroll away from the front door. To find that sort of convenience in Minnesota’s fourth-largest city, let alone right by the nation’s top tourist destination, is really quite something!
