One fast way to get someone to hate you is to go to a sushi restaurant and ask to be served anything other than raw seafood. Who’s that obnoxious, right?

Well, me.

Some of us just happen to favor flaky fish, yet still like fresh, artful presentations…and/or are dining with someone who loves all things sushi.

Turns out if, like me, you prefer proteins that have been introduced to fire, the menu at District M, located in Sandy Springs, Ga., offers so many options that the sushi chefs won’t bat an eye let alone sneer at you for such a request.

It’s true: You can be picky and way off trend yet still feel the love at District M!

Whether you’re dining solo, on a first date, or have been married for decades, there are times when you want to eat out but don’t want to struggle to find something to talk about. One perfect solution is to book a seat at the sushi bar: It’s like dinner and a show!

Open since February 2019, District M is home to the largest sushi bar in metro Atlanta. So there are plenty of seats. And, with multiple chefs at work, there’s always something to see.

Exec Chef at District M in Sandy Springs GA

Executive Chef Jackie Chang drives the menu that includes traditional Japanese omakase, moriawase, a la carte sushi, and charcoal grilled dishes—perfect for eaters like me. He also presents several modern creations. Premium fish is flown in daily from Japan, Spain, and other destinations.

Though I’d say don’t miss the miso glazed black cod, the Roku roll (squid ink rice, lobster salad, with wasabi crème fraiche), the Hachi roll (with waygu beef), or shrimp tempura, and save room for dessert, my best advice is to the let the chefs make your decisions: Just tell them what you like and what you don’t like then dig into their recommendations. My husband and I did just that and were impressed by every dish.

The bar menu showcases Japanese whiskies, beers and sakés along with other tasty sips. Cocktails are well-balanced and lip-licking yum.
