Doc Chey’s Dragon Bowl

Doc Chey’s Dragon Bowl is now open in Emory Village.

This new fast-casual restaurant concept presents Asian-inspired dumplings and made-to-order bowls with a mix of grains, grilled meats, pickled veggies, fresh seasonal veggies and scratch-made sauces.

The menu offers a variety of choices for omnivores as well as vegetarians, vegans and gluten-free diners.

The restaurant philosophy “Keep it Simple. Keep it Fresh. Keep it Real.” influences the environment, food and packaging—for example, dinnerware and to-go containers are made from renewable, sustainable bamboo.

You’ll enter the back of the dining room and as you walk toward the cashier, follow the menu painted on the right-hand wall for easy ordering:

• Step 1: Choose a style (Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Thai, Vietnamese).
• Step 2: Choose a base (ramen, rice blend, vermicelli or salad mix).
• Step 3: Choose two veggies (options change regularly with the seasons).
• Step 4: Choose a meat (freshly grilled chicken, ribeye, pork belly or tofu).

The beverage selection includes organic iced teas, hot teas and craft sodas. There’s also a limited menu of beer (including local craft beers), wine and infused sakes.

Savor that standout dish and then dig into a bowl of whatever sounds appealing to you. Highlights among our sampling include the tangy-spicy-sweet Korean sauce and the rich peanut Thai sauce. Ramen is soft and soulful, the rice blend dense and hearty. The pickled vegetables accompanying all dishes thankfully don’t overwhelm with vinegar flavors. And, perhaps best of all, the salt levels are lower than compared to Doc Chey’s original restaurant.
