The food at HOLA! Taqueria & Bar exceeds the expectations that may be suggested by its colorful logo and casual open-air front. You might look at the place and think “typical” but one bite will change your mind. Even the casual taco has uncommon elegance here: As one example, don’t miss the divine lobster taco. Generous mounds of lobster meat are tucked into a crepe-like flour shell and drizzled with pasilla cream and pico de gallo and the result is so yummy you might hear bells ring.

The fresh, modern recipes on the menu are driven by Executive Chef Luis Ramirez, a native of Mexico who has helped develop menus for many popular Atlanta dining destinations, including Bistro VG, Vinny’s Buckhead Diner, Aspen’s and Cinco Mexican Cantina.

With an emphasis on quality, Ramirez ensures that everything is house-made to burst with fresh, herbaceous flavor. From the fire-roasted house salsa to the Aztec chocolate mousse, every bite aims to make taste buds dance.

Both lunch and dinner menus feature favorites like tacos, fresh salads, quesadillas, fajitas, burritos, enchiladas and tortas. Some of the most popular dishes include the chilaquiles con puerco (a fried pork chop with fresh crispy tortillas, tomatillo salsa, queso fresco, avocado topped with a fried egg), salmon a la talla (grilled salmon with serrano potatoes, spinach and jalapeno corn), spicy camarones alla diabla (devilish gulf shrimp over masa cakes), and borrego taco (braised lamb).
