Beginning April 14, 2015, you’re invited to join Springfield, Ill., in reverence for President Lincoln through scholarly symposia, poetry, visual arts and musical performances, culminating in the re-enactment of his 1865 funeral and procession to Oak Ridge Cemetery on the weekend of May 2-3, 2015.
The primary event will take place on Sunday May 3, 2015, when a funeral procession will follow the historic route to Oak Ridge Cemetery where clergy and re-enactors will present the eulogy, speeches and salutes at the old public receiving vault. Civil War-era musicians will perform music originally conducted during this ceremony.
