The lobby restaurant at the new Crowne Plaza Atlanta Midtown.

At Next, one of the dining options inside the Crowne Plaza Atlanta Midtown, the approach is casual: For starters, it’s a seat-yourself arrangement. But there’s no reason not to grab a table if you’re the first person in your dining party to arrive. Next is located in the lobby with a clear view of the front doors, so you’ll easily sport your friends’ arrival and can wave them over to the table. If you prefer to wait for your companions, however, there are also comfy sofas in the extra wide hallway between the restaurant and the registration desk.
In the Next dining room you can sit at the bar, at a table, or in a comfy chair as will best suit your mood as well as whether you plan to relax and sip a cocktail, share appetizers, or dig into a hearty entrée.
Servers are attentive and eager to offer recommendations if you’re not sure what to order.
Next offers a diverse menu of small plates, burgers and sandwiches, soups and salads, flat pies, and entrées. Temptations include BBQ shrimp skewers, Coca-Cola glazed wings, Asian sea salt spiced ahi tuna, citrus glazed salmon and more. Save room for dessert.
The chicken quesadilla ($14) tucks tender chicken, cheese, bacon, peppers, onions, tomatoes and greens inside a flour tortilla served alongside sour cream and a tasty roasted red pepper salsa. The five cheese barbecue brisket pasta ($15) smothers cavatappi with barbecue beef brisket, tomatoes and onions in a five cheese cream sauce.
The location of Next makes it especially convenient for hotel guests though it also draws professionals who work in Midtown for after-work cocktails and/or bites.
Also On Property…
After dinner at Next, my husband and I were treated to a brief property tour of the hotels. The top floor of the hotel offers spectacular views of Atlanta—and it’s available for rent as special event space (you can rent the whole floor or sections of it since it’s got flexible partitions). Our host said that one gentleman rented the floor so a dining table-for-two sprinkled with rose petals could be placed up there, an ultimate private dining option.
First, the hotel’s breakfast restaurant, boasts stunning bright-colored modern décor and an eclectic menu that ranges from traditional breakfast options to sushi.
Next Restaurant is open daily from 4 to 11 p.m.
