Treat is a restaurant and a gift shop, an unusual combination lets you know right off the bat that some creative minds are at work in this place.
The menu offers Italian and Mediterranean food. One bite and you may start looking around wondering if you somehow turned a corner into Italy.
Fried calamari has delicate fried batter and is cooked to perfection so the seafood has a toothsome bite without getting rubbery. The savory gnocchi with wild boar sausage is comfort food with an upscale better-than-home cooking aura. Shrimp scampi is a lip-licking customer favorite that no garlic lover should skip. Rigatoni with vodka sauce is so good it’s hard to resist the urge to lick the plate clean. (UPDATE: A new chef has been hired since our January visit.)
Still hungry? There’s more worth biting into in Morganton.
