Whiskey, Wine & Wildlife (W3), named one of the Southeast Tourism Society’s Top 20 Events, announced its full lineup for the 2018 extravaganza February 8-11. W-3 blends creations by distinguished, regional chefs top-shelf whiskeys and wines, notable culinary experts and the breathtaking beachfront location of the Westin Jekyll Island for a mid-winter escape that benefits the Jekyll Island Foundation.

“Since its launch in 2016, W-3 has quickly grown in size and stature,” noted event co-founder Kevin Baker, director of sales and marketing for the Westin Jekyll Island. “There’s a real appetite for upscale festival-style events like this, as evidenced by the growing crowds and the fact that in just two years, W-3 has donated more than $50,000 to the Jekyll Island Foundation. If we can support the preservation of the island’s environment and our acclaimed Sea Turtle Center all while having some fun, I’d say that’s another W-3; win, win, win.”

W-3 begins Thursday evening and continues through Sunday brunch at the oceanfront Westin Jekyll Island. Thursday, February 8

W3 Wine, Dinner & Launch Party
6:30 p.m.
The Reserve at the Westin Jekyll Island
The official kick-off is a multi-course gourmet dinner crafted by guest chefs Tom Gray, Moxie Kitchen + Cocktails and Town Hall Restaurants, Jacksonville, FL; and Raj Gupta, The Westin Halifax, Nova Scotia hosted by Skipp Worden Executive Chef of The Westin Jekyll Island. Master Sommelier Michael McNeill will pair wines with each course and provide commentary on the selections.
Tickets: $110. $120 per person after January 31.

Friday, February 9

W3 Wine Cruise w/ Captain Phillip
11 a.m.
Jekyll Island Historic Wharf
Sample wine and light bites on a two-hour cruise of Jekyll Island’s waterways narrated by local waterman, Captain Phillip.
Tickets: $50 per person.

W3 Master Classes presented by Atlanta Magazine
1 p.m. – 5 p.m.
The Westin Jekyll Island
Four educational seminars led by masters of their craft give guests a chance to refine their palates and prime their appetites for a weekend of sipping and sampling.

1 p.m. From Fruit to Finish: Master Sommelier Michael McNeil will discuss the art and science of grape-growing while sampling exquisite examples of several varietals. McNeill is one of only 118 people in North America to carry the Master Sommelier designation and is Georgia’s only active designee.

2 p.m. Brews and Burgers: Sample craft brews from Savannah’s own Kevin Ryan, Service Brewing Co., and burgers from chef David Carrier, Certified Burgers & Beverage.

3 p.m. The Perfect Couple: Ste. Michelle Wine Estates and Executive Chef, Skip Worden, team up to create exceptional pairings of refined wine varietals and innovative dishes.

4 p.m. Wonders of Whiskey: The Brown Forman Family will be pouring their smoky Reserve Bourbon Whiskey and BenRiach Scotch Whisky during an open discussion about all things whiskey and wonderful.

Tickets: $36 per person/per class or $125 per person/all classes in advance, $40 per person/per class after January 31. Limited availability.

Whiskey is the star of the show at this evening’s event. Make the rounds at whiskey, wine, beer, and food booths serving up whiskey-themed creations made by some of the South’s leading chefs including: Tom Gray, Moxie Kitchen, Chef/Farmer Matthew Raiford, Ülfet Ralph from Little St. Simons Island and Matthew Roher from The Sea Pines Resort as well as Top Chef contestant, Kenny Gilbert.

Saturday, February 10

Whiskey, Wine & Wildlife – W3
1 p.m. – 4 p.m.
Beach Village & Village Green
The main event will combine the three Ws and more for the perfect island afternoon. Enjoy the soulful sounds of Laiken Love & Fellowship of Love oceanfront, while tasting culinary delights and a variety of beverage in a souvenir Glencairn whisky glass. It’s a full afternoon of sipping, sampling, music and more including:

VIP Lounge, presented by Golden Isles Magazine: Located on the Westin’s Rooftop & The Reserve Restaurant overlooking the Village Green. Enjoy a fully catered experience with private bars and a relaxing patio space to take a break from the crowds.

Woodford Reserve Cocktail Challenge: Vote for your favorite bartender-crafted cocktail, there can only be one People’s Choice winner!

Enjoy a W-3 style brunch stocked with champagne, whiskey cocktails, a Bloody Mary bar, and all of your breakfast favorites. Seating is first come, first served. Groups of six or more should make reservations to ensure same table seating.

Tickets: $65 per person in advance, $75 after January 31.
